I’ll get straight to the point.

 

The latest sweeps period just ended. In my hometown of Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas, the fifth largest television market in the country. Well over 161,000 fewer people tuned in to watch a 10 p.m. newscast here than in November 2008. (Read more)

I attended my first NPPA TV Workshop in 1986. It was, as most attendees describe it, a life changing experience.  

 

I can recall with clarity most of the important things I learned at that workshop. Larry Hatteburg, a key presenter, delivered one of the best lectures I’ve ever heard. Larry said  “there is nothing new under the sun”. He meant storytelling and what it takes to tell a compelling story hasn’t changed over time and shouldn’t change. (Read More)

How do you watch TV?

What piques your interest? What  stops you from flipping through your 500 channel cable or satellite system and watch a program for a while? Are you  looking at images or does something specific capture and hold your attention?

 

If you’ve had any exposure to the MEDIAdvise training material, you know that we teach “storytelling” techniques, Engaging viewers—capturing and holding their attention is a powerful tool in developing a more loyal viewer base.
